Choosing Light without living in darkness ✨

There is no denying that we live in a world where evil exists. We see it. We feel it. Sometimes we’re directly impacted by it, and other times we witness it unfolding around us in heartbreaking ways.

As believers, we are not called to ignore evil or pretend it isn’t there. Scripture actually tells us to expose darkness—to stand for truth, justice, and righteousness.

But there is a line God gently calls us to walk.

We are not meant to live in the darkness we expose.

Ephesians 5:12 reminds us:

“It is shameful even to talk about the things that ungodly people do in secret. But their evil intentions will be exposed when the light shines on them, for the light makes everything visible.”

There is wisdom here.

Yes — we call out evil.

Yes — we stand for what is right.

Yes — we bring things into the light.

But we do not camp out in darkness, rehearse it, obsess over it, or let it take residence in our hearts, minds, or homes.

Because we are children of the Light.

When we constantly consume, replay, and dwell on darkness, it begins to weigh on our spirit, distort our peace, and shift our focus off of God’s goodness and power.

The enemy would love nothing more than for believers to become so focused on evil that we forget the authority and light we carry.

But God calls us higher.

We are called to:

  • See clearly
  • Discern wisely
  • Speak truth boldly
  • And then shift our gaze back to Him

Because light doesn’t fight darkness by studying it… it overcomes it by shining.

So today, we choose to be aware—but not consumed.

We choose to be informed—but not overwhelmed.

We choose to stand for truth—without letting darkness take root in us.

We choose the Light.

🙏🏼 Daily Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for being a God of truth, justice, and light.

Your Word says that what is done in darkness will be brought into the light, and we trust You to expose what needs to be revealed in Your perfect way and timing.

Give me discernment to recognize evil for what it is—without becoming consumed by it.

Guard my heart and mind from dwelling on darkness. Protect my peace. Protect my thoughts. Protect my spirit.

Help me to speak truth with wisdom, love, and boldness when You call me to.

But remind me daily that my assignment is not to sit in darkness—it is to carry Your light.

Let my home be filled with Your presence.

Let my mind be fixed on what is pure and holy.

Let my words bring life and truth.

Let my spirit remain steady and anchored in You.

Where there is darkness around me, make me a light.

Where there is confusion, make me a voice of truth.

Where there is fear, make me a vessel of Your peace.

I trust You, God, to handle what is hidden.

I choose to walk in the light You’ve given me.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen.
